To allow for the calculation of the access cavity & working length, a good 3D representation of the occlusal surface is required, and hence the teeth cannot be in occlusion.
For perfectly positioned images in Orthophos SL 3D / XG 3D, the use of an Occlusal / Universal Bite Block is recommended.
Please read the instruction for use of your device
For Orthophos SL 3D / XG 3D :
Please find the manual here: PDF.
REMOVE FILLINGS PRIOR TO TAKING THE SCAN, IF POSSIBLE.
This will reduce the amount of scatter around the crown of the tooth caused by these fillings. This will allow for better and more accurate visualization of access cavity contour & calculation of the working length.
Lower radiation dose, less interference of metal objects in other teeth. Read AAE and AAOMR Joint Position Statment May 2015
For Orthophos SL 3D / XG 3D, please select:
- VOL 2: 5 x 5,5 cm
EXPORT TO THE DICOM FORMAT
Reducing the slice thickness (often done for implantology), will distort the root canal visualization drastically.
